LEARN TAI CHI

21st century tai chi WITH THE TEAPOTMONK

Starting Tai Chi can be a confusing task.

You may be lucky and have a few good choices locally, but for others online is their best option. And here it can get confusing, for each school often claims to offer everything.

This is just marketing speak. So do not be shy about exploring yourself, trying out sessions and always ask if you need advice as to what will work best for you.

The teapotmonk hybrid approach

My name is Paul Read (the teapotmonk - see below this page). I’m here to help you start your practice and so have created a few Tai Chi Starters Kits that approach the art from different points of view: (the Form, Workbook or daily applications. These are aimed at helping you take that first step at a special affordable price, combining the benefits of a paperback book, with an online video course. (check 👇)

I’d just like to SAY…

  • TAI CHI SHORT FORM COURSE

“I have been practicing martial arts for over forty five years and…this is by far, the best instructional course I have seen for Tai Chi. The attention to detail, the multiple camera angles, the focus on both lower and upper body movements and footwork, the extras, and even the location for filming are exceptional. I was hesitant at first to spend the money, but I have no regrets.”

    - Chuck Callaway

  • TAI CHI SWORD COURSE

“ I’m really loving the course, and I have to say I’m really impressed too. I tried to learn the Wudang sword form online and it was so frustrating, but your sword form course is brilliant. I’m going through it slowly, but I’m feeling confident about each move”.

    - Sinéad S.

  • TAI CHI SHORT FORM COURSE

“I’m getting more attention/response from this online course than I did from the instructor when I took a group class before the pandemic! It’s much easier to follow with all the different (camera) views, and I can learn just a bit at a time, slowly - Thank you very much!”

    - Karen. (The Tai Chi Short Form 37 Step Course)

WHO IS THE TEAPOTMONK?

I’m also known as Paul Read. In my 35+ years of teaching, I have tried to simplify and streamline the art in order to make it more approachable and easy to learn. To that end I have written the Illustrated Tai Chi workbook, the Beginners Guide to the Tai Chi Form, as well as half a dozen other books.

I’ve also produced podcasts as well as some very special online courses and unique self-study workshops for beginners.

My approach and style is not for everyone. So if you are looking for a levitating-sage that lives on a mountain and has a trained army of guru teachers around the world, - I’m afraid I’ll disappoint. But if you are looking for a contemporary, urban, down-to-earth, accessible 21st century guy, then check out the site. You might like what you see.

Email me here if you need to get in touch or would like some personal feedback on how learning this way might work best for you.
